Oh, THE PLACES ODELL COULD GO
Odell Beckham Jr. dancing in the endzone sporting blue and gold playing in the L.A. Coliseum? I could see it.
Odell catching a quick slant from Tom Brady and streaking down the field for a 50 yard touchdown in New England? I wouldn’t like it, but I could see it.
How about OBJ in East Rutherford in the huddle with a rookie quarterback come September? I could also see that.
Wherever he ends up, we can expect him to go off this upcoming season. Odell is arguably the most talented football player in the NFL right now.
With his social media antics and colorful on-field personality aside, the man is a gamebreaker who can change the course of a ballgame at any time.
I don't think the Giants are ready to pay Odell what he wants this offseason (which will inevitably be the largest NFL contract in the history of the league). Odell is a superstar and he knows it. He has always been the first to congratulate his peers- including Antonio Brown and Xavier Rhodes- upon hearing news of their record-breaking contract extensions. No doubt he would expect the congratulatory shoutouts in return in due time.
Ultimately, Odell knows his worth, and frankly the league knows his worth as well. He has become one of the faces of the NFL and he will follow the money. Recent superstar signings in L.A. including Aquib Talib and Ndamukong Suh, will make it interesting to see if Odell still lands in Los Angeles considering the salary cap. Southern California seems like the perfect fit and destination for a celebrity player like OBJ.
The NFL has the longest offseason in professional sports, so we will have to wait and see what Odell's agent and lawyers can cook up for the former LSU standout.
